Procuring accessible services
When procuring services from external suppliers we must ensure that their products comply with the accessibility regulations and be WCAG 2.2 AA compliant.
Procurement is responsible for making sure that suppliers, third parties and subcontractors comply with equality legislation when delivering contracts.
This can be achieved by:
- requiring third-party tools to meet WCAG 2.2 AA compliance
- ensure accessibility is part of procurement contracts
- ensuring any agency that works on a Turas app fully tests and provides evidence of WCAG 2.2 AA standard compliance
- third parties should be expected to remedy any issues in the future to make their software accessible
- third parties should provide accessibility statements detailing any accessibility issues , workarounds and expected timelines for fixing any issues
- making sure accessibility maintenance is included within the lifetime of the contract
Exceptions
The exception is content that is not
- funded
- developed
- controlled
by NES, for example an external website that you link to that you have no control over.
